Right? Only? When I read this book in the first grade it felt like she was ancient. But damn less than 60 years ago schools were still segregated
I double checked her age in case this was an old post still floating around tumblr, but it is correct. She turned 62 yesterday (9/8/16). Excuse me while I go try to wrap my mind around this now…
This one is the second installment to my “Blue Electronica” illustrated story, named after the second track of the album, “Electronica”.
Sebastian’s the kind of nightmaren that doesn’t do what his species is meant for, which is haunting dreamers through their nightmares. Instead, he takes time to learn and evaluate humans in their dreamscape. He mostly shows up to the more lucid visitors however, asking them deep questions that makes even the visitor question their life choices. The more he does this, the more in tune to humanity he becomes to the point that he develops a more human-like personality.
Here’s the start to my little illustrated story in relation to The Code’s recent album, “Blue Electronica”. This first scene is called “Launch”, which is the first track to the album.

I’ve already said this a week ago on Facebook, but I finally GOT A FREAKING JOB!!!
I now work as a housekeeper at the Roberts Riverwalk Hotel in Detroit. It was so surreal when I went for that interview. I was suited up and stuff but nervous as hell… Gave the head manager my paperwork as he interviewed me, but he also got a glimpse of my illustrations. After he asked to see them and I handed them over, he screened through some of them then immediately got up and left the office… WITH MY PORTFOLIO…
I got really nervous and slightly confused until he came back a few minutes later and told me to come to the chairman’s office. It seemed that I’ve intrigued Mr. Roberts himself, the man who owns the hotel. He liked my resume and portfolio, asked me questions about where I was from and my interests and goals. After the conversation, he offered me the choice of 3 different positions: Housekeeping, bartending, and eventually receptionist when there’s a spot open. I just told him “Sir, I’m not going to play around, but if you’d just give me a job, I’ll put out my very best.” He then told me I can start out in housekeeping, and if I do great after the 90 day probation, I’ll be promoted to something better.
Technically, I was supposed to be assistant supervisor of housekeeping, but I guess they’re still trying to figure out who they’ll have to demote to give me that position. Either way, I’m just glad to have a source of income. Now I can better my life a bit~
